Baby's Mini-Album

Here are a few pictures of a mini-album I recently created for a friend.

Cover--Luke's Mini-Album

Following are a few pictures of the insides.  I like keeping most of the inside pages as uncluttered as possible so the user can choose whether or not to add a photo or journal on the page.  I will include adhesive and a couple of scraps so mom can add her own personal touches.

I love making mini-albums because it uses up all of my old papers and scraps that I cannot seem to find a good use for.  Most of the papers for this album are either K & Company Actopus to Zelephant or
Basic Grey.  I cannot remember the name of the set, but it had dinosaur stickers in it.  I also used Basic Grey's 6x6 Archaic.

The embellishments on this page come from several places.  The envelope is a die from PaperTrey Ink; "You are Such a Joy" comes from Color Coutour from PTI.  The Bb card is from an ephemera set from K&Company.

I used my Cricut to cut an envelope so mom can slide some keepsakes inside.

I wish I had bought more of the journal pages here!  So cute for a backing or journaling.

A few more scraps, and the mini is complete.  This is my second venture, and I am getting a little more comfortable with the process.  The die for the pages comes from PTI as well--Mini-Album set.  The die also includes the tabs and they have a stamp set to customize the tabs.

Mini-Albums are really fun to do.  I love them because there is no right or wrong...and they use up the scraps!!

Bookmarks: PTI May 2011 Blog Hop

I have been wanting to participate in a PTI Blog Hop for some time now, and I finally have a project that qualifies!!  As an Instructional Coach, one thing I like to do is come up with some small token of appreication for my teachers for their hard work and dedication to educating our students.  I usually make cards for my intermediate teachers around testing time.  But for the primary teachers, I wait until May to surprise them with a little something. I wasn't thrilled about my creation last year--but this year, I'm hoping they'll find this bookmark pretty and useful!

Teacher Appreciation!
This was the first bookmark I made, and I had intended for all of them to turn out like this one.  However, time and materials got the better of me as I needed to produce 26 bookmarks!  My son's girlfriend came over Sunday evening and together we stream-lined the process.  We decided that ribbon was a premium, so we only added ribbon through the eyelet.  As an appreciation for helping me, I let Abigail keep the original bookmark!!  Below are pictures of the finished bookmarks for 26 hard-working teachers!

Notice the bookmark center-front!  We have one male kindergarten teacher.
I couldn't see putting flowers on his bookmark!

Bookmarks for my other campus!!

My First Mini

I have been following Creations with Christina for some time now, and she has a beautiful way of putting a mini together.  I have been dying to try and make one, but was so intimidated by the process.  Finally after watching a few of her videos, I took the plunge.  (Click on Christina's link to see how to get started.) What could be so bad?  If it didn't work out, I could toss it out, right?

I made this mini for my sister's first grand baby, Aiden.  I only have pictures because videos are a little intimidating to me right now.  Also, I don't own a video camera--so there's reason #2.  For the mini I primarily used K & Company Actopus to Zelephant papers.  I had lucked out and got 2 paper pads at Michael's for less than $12 total a good while back to scrap some of my boys pictures when they were younger.  The leftovers came in quite handy for this project.  You can still get some of that paper from K & Company's online store.

The doggie comes from Cricut's Paisley cartridge.
The mini cardboard is Mary Englebreit purchased on sale
at Michael's for fifty cents!

I "fussy" cut some of the images from the paper to decorate
parts of the album.  Their are also some cut outs from
PTI's Raspberry Suite's Color Couture.
The tags are cut fromCricut's Tags, Bags, Boxes & More.

I was also lucky enough to purchase some of the coordinating
embellies at Michaels to go with the papers.

Just love the froggy page!

I wish I could tell you I planned the last page perfectly--
nope--just a happy accident!

Make It Monday #14--Selective Inking

I am having a blast entering all of these challenges!  Below is a challenge with Papertrey Ink--Make It Monday #14--Selective Inking.  This was a fun challenge because it confirmed something I thought I should be able to do...get more mileage out of my stamps.  The challenge was to take a two-lined stamp sentiment and separate it out into front and inside sentiment of a card.  Below is what I came up with--

Front--"You are so"

I think the trickiest thing was to separate out the sentiment.  My stamping on the inside was a little tentative since the word "thoughtful" blended into the "You are so" just a little.  Plus, I may have been a little heavy handed on the baby wipe, making the ink not adhere so well.  The flower and sentiment come from Papertrey Ink's Flower Fusion.  This is a delightful--and inexpensive--stamp set!  Only $5 gets you two sizes of flower bases, flower outlines, stem & leaf and two sentiments:  I appreciate you! and You are so thoughtful!

I'll certainly enjoy giving this card to someone special!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 116

I'm so excited!  I think I'm finally growing as a paper crafter and this card is the proof.  Typically, I go by memory of what I've done before or what I've seen others do.  This time I decided to follow The Sweetest Thing, Karon Giron's sketch almost to the "T" and it's paid off for me!  See what you think!

This card will be given to a teacher who will soon be a June Bride!  I hope she likes it!!

Tag Challenge

I'd love to win Forever Young.  I probably won't ever buy this cartridge for myself because I have sons in my life...but I think I limit myself by thinking that way.  Here is a card made with a Paper Trey Ink tag set called Mat Stack 3 Collection.  I love this die/stamp set.  I've already worn out a few of the stamps, and I've just begun using it!!  Enjoy!

Supplies for Challenge #6

Anne Griffin papers...not sure of the name.  I've lost the cover!
Paper Trey Ink--Mat Stack 3 & Stamps
Paper Trey Ink--Coasters
Paper Trey Ink--Ink--New Leaf
Brown ribbon from Michaels

I would have liked this card more if my brown ink matched the paper/ribbon.  Oh, well...I use what I have and don't worry about the rest!!

Summer Theme Project

Oh my goodness...this layout was toooooo easy!  I used papers and cutouts from Imaginisce--Berrylicious.  I plan to take pictures of our tomato, onion and squash harvest to add to my gardening scrapbook.  I love it when things are already finished for me!!

Challenge #8

Scrapbook Layout

I've decided that since I'm so frightfully behind, I'll do what I want from now on for the National Scrapbook Day Challenge with My Pink Stamper...and in any order I want!!

So here is a Scrapbook page I've done using photos from my other blog:  A Southwest Gardner's Journal.  I have a special scrapbook for the photos I take of my garden.  My husband works so hard, that I feel taking pictures is the least I can do to appreciate all he does.

Supplies for Challenge #7--

Basic Grey--Porcelain Collection
Gypsy Font
Gypsy Wanderings--Dragonflies

Breast Cancer Theme

I am so blessed to be able to say that no woman in our family has been touched by breast cancer.  However, I do have several friends who have won the this card is for them!
